History of Bundi Fort (Taragarh Fort) Rajasthan | Bundi Fort History
Taragarh means the palace of the stars, and the fort looks like a star from the hill, hence the name Taragarh. It is said that a joyous ceremony of the daughter of Rao Bir Singh Hada of Bundi turned bloody, and Maharana Kheta was about to get married. During that time, the Kul Pandit of Mewar insulted Rao Bir Singh Hada.
He rejected the donation he gave, saying that he accepts donations from Rajputs only. Humiliated by Hada Kula, Rao Lal Singh could not bear his anger and laid his sword on the Brahmin. Lal Singh Hada's anger Maharana Kheta did not see on his clan priest, and he returned to Mewar without marriage.
The cordial relations with Mewar turned toxic. When relations with Mewar deteriorated, the robbers of Gujarat and Malwa started plundering this Bundi princely state.
Bir Singh was murdered, and his son was imprisoned in Mandu. In this state of grief, Samar Bandu was sitting on the throne of Bundi, and Bandu had once insulted him by stopping the worship of his goddess.
In anger, his nephew Narayan Singh attacked him with a sword and killed one of the gunmen. Narayan Singh ascended the throne of Bundi and reunited his niece Karnavati with Rana Saya to improve relations with Mewar.
After restoring relations with Mewar, Bundi took back its territory from Malwa. In 1579 AD, Raja Rao Surjan Hada gave the fort of Ranthambore and Bundi to the Mughal Emperor Akbar and made a treaty with him.
Raising his voice against this treaty, his court and eldest son joined Mewar. Bhoj Singh was placed on the throne after Rao Surjan Hada was immersed in the titles and titles given by the Mughals.
With the meeting with the Mughals, the glory of the princely state of Bundi doubled, and its power increased. Art and education started developing in Bundi, buildings were built with beautiful artwork, and Bundi got a new name of small Kashi.
In 1607, the Taragarh Fort was given a natural shape, with painted buildings adorning the walls making space in the lower part of Taragarh.
