Mukunda Hills Tiger Reserve was announced by Mukundra Hills National Park or Darra Wildlife Sanctuary on April 9, 2013. It is located on Kota-Jhalawar road, 50 km from Kota in the Kota district of Rajasthan state.
Mukunda Hills is spread over about 760 square kilometres of four districts of Rajasthan, namely Kota, Jhalawar, Bundi and Chittorgarh. This Tiger Reserve has approximately 417 square kilometre core and 342 square kilometre buffer zone.
The Mukundara Hills National Park takes in parts of the Reserve Retreat, Jawahar Sagar and Chambal Burke Wildlife Retreat.

The Darra Wildlife Sanctuary, known as the Rajiv Gandhi National Park in 2003, has been replaced by the Darra Sanctuary.
In 2006, the Vasundhara government passed a plan to accord the status of a national park with the name "Mukundara Hills Park", but the goal was not accepted by the Centre.
A notice was issued on 9 January 2012 for granting the status of National Park to Mukundara Hills. Jawahar Sagar Sanctuary, Chambal Ghandiyal Sanjarayan, the section of the Darra Sanctuary (approximately 199.51 sq km area), declares the formation of the third National Park in the place.

• A notice was issued on 11 April 2013 by the Government of Rajasthan to establish a new Tiger Reserve area (one-third of the state after Ranthambore National Park and Sariska National Park) known as Mukundara Hills in the state.
• This new tiger reserve, spread over an area of about 759 square kilometres district, has two parts, 417 square kilometres. The core tiger natural environment (core tiger home) district and 342 sq km buffer zone have been notified.
Pass Wildlife Sanctuary | Darrah Wildlife Sanctuary
• The Mukundra-Hills district associated with the Ranthambore National Park is generally located in the Hadoti district of the Sawai Madhopur region, but the community extends to Kota, Jhalawar, Bundi and Chittorgarh regions.
1. Gagorni parrot, An unusual animal parrot established in the Mukundara Hills, can imitate human opinion. It is red in colour and has a reddish tint on the wings.
It has been named Hiramana Paratha and Hindus Ke Paas (telling in human voice). In the early times, this parrot was used for espionage. This forest division has declared the mascot of the Jhalawar region.
2. Mukundara Hills are famous for charm and cranes.
3. In Mukundara hills, sambar, chital, nilgai, challenging, wild boar, fox, rabbit etc., are found.
4. This sanctuary is famous for Dakhra (Anolis panda) forests.
