Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the Rajsamand district of Rajasthan,   is a popular tourist destination for nature lovers. Which is spread over a total area of ​​578 sq km in Rajsamand district. 

This wildlife sanctuary surrounds parts of Udaipur, Rajsamand and Pali in the Aravalli ranges. Kumbhalgarh Fort is also included in this sanctuary. The area has been named Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary after the Kumbhalgarh Fort.

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary acts as a dividing line between Mewar and Marwar, two different parts of Rajasthan. The place where this sanctuary is now was once the royal hunting ground of the royal family. 

Which was converted into a sanctuary in 1971. The Banas River flowing through the refuge adorns the cover and is the primary source of water for the shelter.

Various species of animals are found in Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary. These include wolf, leopard, hare, jackal, nilgai, causing, chinkara and wild cat. 

It is the only sanctuary in the state where wolves can be seen in their natural habitat. The refuge is home to about 40 types of wolves. In the summer, a herd of wolves can be easily seen roaming here. Crocodiles and waterfowl can also be seen here near Thandi Beri Lake. 

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary also hosts an excellent variety of birds, including owls, bulbuls, peacocks, pigeons, grey jungle fowl, parrots, white-breasted kingfishers, and golden oriole. 

Combining all these, more than 200 species of birds are found in the sanctuary, due to which this place is like a paradise for bird lovers.

Many types of flora are found in Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary, which mainly includes many kinds of flora like Dhok, Salar, Khair, many trees and plants and medicinal plants with herbal properties are also included in it.

Located in the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, the 15 km long safari route from Kumbhalgarh to Thandi Beri is the most popular. 

Let us tell you that it takes about 3.5 hours to go from Kumbhalgarh to Thandi Beri and come back. This sanctuary has a four-wheel drive track. At the end of the refuge is situated the Ranakpur Jain Temple.

How to reach Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary 

The sanctuary is located at a distance of 3 km from Kumbhalgarh Fort, 48 km from Rajsamand, 51 km from Nathdwara and 98 km from Udaipur city.

No forest department vehicle exists here, so tourists must hire a car from Kumbhalgarh or Kelwara. The sanctuary is easily accessible from Udaipur with the help of a bus or private taxi.
