The fort of Alwar has been ruled by Nikumbh Khan more Mughals, Marathas, and Jat Rajputs, this fort was built by Hasan Khan Mewati in 1551 AD, and after this Alwar was ruled by the Mughals, Marathas and Jats. 

In 1775, Kachwaha Rajput Pratap Singh captured this fort and laid the foundation of fellow Alwar.

The Mughal emperor Babur spent a night while Jahangir lived in exile for 3 years and at that time he named it Salim Mahal. The room in the fort where Jahangir stayed is also known as Salim Mahal. 

The fort of Alwar is famous all over India for its architectural art. The inside part of the fort is divided into many parts, there are stairs from many sides to reach from one place to another.

Alwar Fort is counted as the largest fort in Rajasthan, this fort is built in some styles and beautiful sculptures have been made on the walls of the fort.

Apart from these beautiful carvings, the fort also has other beautiful buildings such as Suraj Kud, Salim Nagar Talav, Jal Mahal, and Nikumbha Mahal Palace.
